I am still in Santa Barbara, and the weather, so locals tell me, is spectacular, even for this coastal paradise. It is sunny and in the low-80s. My overall ability to run is improving, but I am not satisfied with my consistency. This week, I ran only three out of seven days.  I can now run two miles,  but I need to punch the clock more often. Next week, I intend to run five days, two miles each run. I will do yoga with Megan Z. on Wednesday.

The beautiful sunny days alone, it turns out, are not enough to keep me running.  I must still make a mental decision every day to put on the sneakers and walk to the East Beach.  There, I pick up a path that runs along the Pacific Ocean. This week, I still had trouble making my goal, and I took three days off. The final tally puts me at three days of running and one day of cross training, when Megan Z. helped me to focus on my breath and my posture. This has actually been quite useful as I run, and I can feel the difference in my feet.  In short, the proper alignment of my body alleviates some of the aches and pains that I have begun to felt in the top of my feet. On the last day of the week, I ran for a shave under two miles--1.97 miles, according to my running app.

It is my second week of training in Santa Barbara, CA, and I am spoiled for life. This week I ran four times along the Pacific Ocean--1.6 miles a stretch--and it was in the high 60s or low 70s when I did so.  As I walked back to my condo from one run, I decided to take photos of all the different flowers in bloom.  However, there are so many flowers in bloom that I became concerned that I would get carpal tunnel syndrome in my index finger.  I went to the gym twice this week and did some very easy strength training (shoulders, biceps, triceps).  While on my way there, I had to side step a Gran Torino and and Aston Martin.  I think a Midwestern funnel cloud deposited me in Oz.  As for cross training, I only did this activity once, and it really didn't count.  My fantastically insightful private yoga instructor focused more on breathing than making me work out hard.
